BRA PIPEWORK AND BRAZING LEVEL 2 & 3
Level 2 is for engineers who only work on pipework up to 7/8” in diameter
Level 3 is for engineers who work on pipework up to 4 1/8” in diameter
This course aims to provide an understanding of brazing and silver soldering techniques as well as an insight into health and safety and the principles of using oxyacetylene brazing equipment.

The course is essential if you want to be trained and certified as competent in brazing refrigeration & air conditioning copper pipework. It is a practical course but also includes the required training in health & safety to enable candidates to competently carry out the correct brazing techniques. The assessment criteria is set to strict industry standards by the British Refrigeration Association (BRA).
This course is ideal if you want to undertake the F-Gas qualification, but you are not yet competent in pipework and brazing, which is a requirement for the F-Gas Assessment
There are three options for our brazing course:
Level 2 – one day: For candidates with experience of the methods used to braze copper to copper pipe and copper to steel pipe, up to 7/8” in diameter.
Level 2 – two days: For candidates with less experience of the methods used to braze copper to copper pipe and copper to steel pipe, up to 7/8” in diameter and require further guidance on the areas below:
- Safe use of oxy-acetylene and other flame brazing gases
- Jointing dissimilar metals
- Safe and efficient brazing technique
- Preparing pipe for jointing
Level 3 – one day: For candidates with experience of the methods used to braze copper to copper pipe and copper to steel pipe, up to 4 1/8” in diameter.
These qualifications need to be renewed every 3 years
What you need to qualify for entry...
For one day courses, candidates must be familiar with the safe use of brazing equipment and various pipe joining methods and the basic tools used to prepare pipework for installation.
For 2-day courses, candidates must be working within the trade and have knowledge of brazing equipment and various pipe joining methods and the basic tools used to prepare pipework for installation.
