NPA COMPUTER REFURBISHMENT & REPAIR
This short course has been designed to deliver basic computer evaluation, refurbishment and recycling knowledge that will allow you to safely gain experience in a range of ICT skills.
The course has been developed to provide a wide range of ICT theory and practical skills that on completion will provide you with SQA certification and the opportunity to gain access to more advanced computer technical support roles.
What you need to qualify for entry...
Learners undertaking this NPA do not need prior knowledge or experience in computer technical support. However, it would be advantageous if you possessed basic IT skills
The course includes a wide range of subjects to allow you to gain skills in areas such as:
- Workshop Health & Safety, Tools and Procedures
- Basic Workshop Administration and asset tracking
- PC Internal/External Components & Connections
- PC Peripherals & Accessories
- PC Software Installation and configuration
- PC Troubleshooting, Testing & Documentation
- Maintaining security of devices (Data, Anti-Virus, Encryption, etc)
- Safe environmentally friendly disposal of devices

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded with 2 recognised SQA National Certificate units and a National Progression Award in Computer Refurbishment & Recycling at Level 4 allowing to to progress to other computing courses offered by us.
The National Progression Award in Computer Refurbishment at SCQF level 4 is designed to introduce you to the necessary skills and methodologies required to refurbish, recycle and set up a computer system. You will be introduced to the basic reasons for the recycling and refurbishment of computers, learning about health and safety procedures when recycling and refurbishing computer hardware and setting up a computer system.
You will be taught to correctly install and configure system software and application software on a computer system. The methods and stages of software installation and the different ways in which software may be configured will be undertaken.
You will also develop the skills to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
