More Students Can Cycle
We are happy to announce that the Beginners Cycling Lessons that were launched 4 weeks ago in partnership with Bike for Good, for students to learn how to cycle, continue to be VERY successful.
We have started to see real progress and now, students who had never cycled before, are pedalling! This is great news, and we believe this will have a real impact not only in our College, but also in the wider community.
Remember these classes are not only for students and everyone who wishes to learn/ improve their confidence on the bike, is encouraged to take part. These take place every Tuesday at 2.00pm, at Springburn campus.
Would you like to try our e-Trike?
Come for a ride with us on the Staff Conference Day!
We are happy to announce that we will be delivering a one-hour long ride with our e- Bikes and e-Trike during the Staff Conference Day.
You will have the opportunity to ride our e-Bikes and, if you are fast enough, our e- Trike!
See you there!
These events are organised thanks to the support of the Smarter Choices, Smarter Places Open Fund, and delivered by Paths for All
War On Waste – An Inspiring Film Screening
Another screening was organised, earlier this week, at the Lecture Theatre at Springburn campus. We decided to display the first episode of the BBC One series ‘War on Plastic’, which highlighted the serious issues caused by plastic pollution in the UK and worldwide.
We were all very shocked to hear that ‘Every single minute of every single day a truckload of plastic is finding its way into the world’s oceans – and once it’s there it sticks around for hundreds of years’.
Plastic is everywhere, however Hugh and Anita, the two protagonists, also presented easy ways to reduce the plastic pollution by switching with non-single-use plastic. As an example, it’s easy enough to use a reusable bottle and refill it instead of buying a new water bottle every day.
Did you know that the College provides refill water fountains at its 4 campuses?
We wanted to thank everyone, once again, for joining us and sharing thoughtful ideas about plastic.
If you missed the film screening but were interested in watching this documentary, you can still find it via the BBC iPlayer.
