Ready To Instagram

06/12/2018 By Tracey Borland

Level 5 Beauty Care & Make-up students, from Easterhouse and Springburn, enjoyed a visit from Ashleigh Anderson, co-founder of FACE spmu studio. With over 10 years in the industry Ashleigh was able to share her freelance experience as well as how she was able to set up her own make-up and semi-permanent make-up studio.

She delivered an inspiring make-up masterclass with demonstrations on the latest make-up techniques and top tips on being instagram ready!

The students felt they gain a lot of new make-up techniques, tips, and advice on specific products and tools they needed to create these strong current glam looks.

GKC’s Dancing Judges

06/12/2018 By Tracey Borland

Our HND year 2 dance students visited A+M Scotland's head office to judge their dance competition.

The young dancers, from  their 17 sites from all over Glasgow, recreated choreography from popular music videos and our students picked 3 winners.

The students watched the videos and used their evaluating methods learned from their teaching skills unit to make their decisions.

Lunch was provided by A+M and a very fun day out of the dance studio was had by all.

Mike Cantlay, Chair of the Scottish Funding Council, Visit

06/12/2018 By Tracey Borland

The College was pleased to welcome Mike Cantlay, the new Chair of the Scottish Funding Council, together with Paul Travers, Senior Policy/Analysis Officer to the Springburn Campus last week. College Chair, Ian Patrick, and Principal Alan Sherry took the opportunity to discuss developments at Glasgow Kelvin and the visit also provided an ideal occasion to show the guests around the new Innovation Lab and Engineering Workshop with state-of-the-art new machinery going into place.

Peter Brown and Anne Porter accompanied them on the visit and provided all the background information. It is anticipated that the facility will be opened officially early in the new year

Notice for Students – Parking

06/12/2018 By Tracey Borland

Can we remind you….

The College is committed to a Sustainability agenda so, for those of you who are driving to College each day – have you considered…  Cycling?  Car-sharing?  Using public transport?

If you ARE bringing your car, could you please bear in mind that we are part of a community here and we share the neighbourhood with our local residents.

  • Please park with consideration especially in residential areas. Do not park in residents’ parking bays or block driveways, turning circles, access roads or parking bays.  Local residents require access to their homes.
  • Please do not park in restricted areas. ‘Keep Clear’ zones are there to protect your vehicles from damage too.
  • Traffic wardens operate in our campus communities.
  • Where the campus has designated Staff Parking areas, please be mindful of this and avoid using them.
  • Please watch your speed and drive with care in the streets around campus buildings.

Thank you.
