The ESOL National 4A students have recently been studying the Glasgow Rent Strikes of 1915.
On the 10th of May we took the underground to Govan station to see the Mary Barbour Statue. For many learners this was the first time they had used the Glasgow Underground, and we were able to compare it to the Tube services in their home cities, like Tehran. We also learned the local name for the Tube, Clockwork Orange.
At the statue, the learners were keen to take photographs with this landmark to such a brave woman.
