A Successful Result For Electric Honey

05/12/2019 By Tracey Borland

Electric Honey, the HND Music Business Management student run record label at GKC, are pleased to announce that last years  signed artists, Nicol and Elliott, have been snapped up by the award winning and highly prestigious record label Last Night From Glasgow.

As Electric Honey is a development label we take this as a job well done by the students at Electric Honey Records  and we wish Nicol and Elliott all the best for the future. Electric Honey has been  Instrumental in gaining radio exposure across the airwaves and raising the live profile of the act over the last eighteen months .

The students and musicians also enjoyed a collaborative launch at The Hug and Pint and Oran Mor  by working closely with the Screen Printing students from  elysee St Geraud of Aurillac, France on their recent Erasmus exchange programme.

Andrew from the band writes

"This opportunity is in no small part due to the hard work EH has put into our 2 singles to date and we can't say how grateful we are for the opportunity to work with you at the label. It's been a great experience and we wanted to pass on our thanks to you and the students for all you've done for us."

Releasing with LNFG has been agreed this morning so neither they nor we have announced it yet. There's still some planning to work out.

Thanks again, Ken and all at GKC. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support the label down the line. We will be only too happy to help.

Cheers,

Andrew & Rachel"

Interesting Networking Opportunities At Resonate

21/11/2019 By Tracey Borland

GKC Music Business Management students had lots of very interesting networking opportunities at this years Resonate Conference, on Friday the 15th, at Barras Art and Design (BaAD) and on the day we had 20 student volunteers.

The event now in its third year is organised by ex GKC student Susan Montgomery from 23rd Precinct Music Publishing Glasgow.

Resonate is a music industry conference focusing on industry training, business development, inclusion and collaboration. Headed up by the team at 23rd Precinct Music, Resonate ran for it’s inaugural year in 2017 and has recent success in it’s third year in November 2019. It saw over 150 music industry professionals travel in from all over the UK to participate in a variety of panels, workshops, discussions and masterclasses. We are committed to creating new and exciting ways to learn about the ever changing world of music and providing skills to not only artists but those whom artists need around them to be successful - https://www.resonatescot.co.uk/

Panelists included Resonate panellists and the keynote speaker was Simon Napier Bell, ex manager of Wham, T REX, Sinead O'Conner and The Yardbirds.
