HND PHOTOGRAPHY: ADVANCED - YEAR 2
The HND Photography is a specialist award, permitting candidates to develop and advance their practical skills and knowledge in Photography.
Aimed at learners who wish to build a portfolio for entry into employment or to access Degree level in Photography.
What you need to qualify for entry...
Entry into the 2nd year of the HND can only be considered if the student has completed all units delivered in year 1 of the HND Photography course or have completed an HNC in Photography.
- 1 Higher at A, B or C plus 2 standard grades passes or a relevant group of National Certificate Photographic units.
Candidates should have a keen interest in Photography and the Creative Industries and bring a portfolio of around 15 to 20 photographic images e.g. portraits, landscapes and other relevant subject matter.
A range of units are delivery throughout the course which includes:
- Advanced Image Editing
- Alternative Processing
- Creative Industries
- Image Editing
The inclusion of the Graded Unit offers students the opportunity to explore their own photographic interests and style.
1 Academic Year
August - June.
If you wish to study on a part-time basis you should provide information about this in their personal statement and at interview.
HND Photography offers students progression routes on to Degree programmes at Glasgow School of Art and Edinburgh Napier University and City of Glasgow.
Candidates who gain their HND vocational qualification would have employment opportunities in the following areas, Commercial Photography, Social Photography, Press, Scientific and Medical Photography.
Also employment in the photography field taking on roles such as a photographic assistant, photographic lab assistant or even self-employment.
