A full-house of delighted HNC, HND and Degree level students yesterday celebrated their success at Glasgow Kelvin College’s Graduation 2017 events.
Spread over two ceremonies to accommodate the large number of achievers for 2016/17, the students, their families and friends, proud staff and guests filled Glasgow’s City Halls for the spectacular rite of passage.
The graduates were spurred on by words of encouragement from Professor Alice Brown, Emeritus Professor at University of Edinburgh, former Chair of the Scottish Funding Council and the first person to fill the role of Scotland’s Public Sector Ombudsman. She gave an empowering speech to the new graduates, sending them off to the next chapter of their learning lives.
The ceremony closed with an uplifting performance from the Glasgow Kelvin Musical Theatre Student Choir.
Principal, Alan Sherry, said;
“We are all extremely proud of this year’s graduates and I am delighted that their friends, families and hard-working College staff were there to support them. The students have set a great example for those who follow them and we wish each of them every success as they progress either into work or further study.
This year in particular they face considerable challenges in the wider world and we are confident that their time at College will have equipped them to handle themselves with assurance and wisdom. Congratulations and good luck!”
