Tuition Fee Support

Many students are eligible for free tuition. Below is general information on tuition fees for Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) courses.
Your fee status determines whether you qualify for free tuition or need to pay fees.
Home (Scottish) Students
- Residents of Scotland.
- Eligible for free tuition for eligible FE and HE courses, subject to residence conditions.
Rest of UK (RUK) and Overseas Fee Status
- RUK: Residents of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, or Ireland.
- Overseas: Residents from outside the UK or Ireland.
- Required to pay fees (see rates in FE and HE sections below).
Note: Students requiring a student visa cannot be accepted, but dependents of visa holders may qualify if they meet the residence conditions.
Full-Time FE Courses
FE courses include Access, City & Guilds, NC, NQ, NPA, PDA, SVQ, and SWAP.
Home (Scottish) Students:
- Free tuition if residence conditions are met.
- Apply through the Bursary/EMA application after accepting your course offer.
- Not means-tested and unaffected by prior study.
RUK and Overseas Students:
- Required to pay tuition fees (see rates below).
Part-Time FE Courses
FE courses include Access, City & Guilds, NC, NQ, NPA, PDA, SVQ, and SWAP.
Home (Scottish) Students and RUK:
- Part-Time Fee waivers: Available for students with low income, receiving benefits (e.g., Universal Credit, Income Support, Pension Credit), or who are asylum seekers or care experienced.
- Contact our Finance Team for an application form.
Overseas Students:
- Required to pay tuition fees (see rates below).

Note: “Short Full-Time” refers to intensive FE courses lasting less than a full academic year, normally 18 weeks.
Full-Time HE Courses
HE courses include HNC, HND, and Degree courses.
Home (Scottish) Students:
- Free tuition through SAAS if you meet residence conditions and haven’t received SAAS funding for a previous HE course.
- Apply to SAAS every year to cover your fees.
RUK and Overseas Students:
- Required to pay tuition fees (see rates below).
Part-Time HE Courses
HE courses include HNC, HND, and Degree courses.
Home (Scottish Students):
- SAAS Part-Time Fee Grant: Available for students earning less than £25,000 per year, studying 30-119 credits. Use the SAAS Calculator to check how much you need to pay. Apply directly to SAAS to receive the grant.
- Part-Time Fee Waiver: Available for students with low income, receiving benefits (e.g., Universal Credit, Income Support), or in specific circumstances, such as asylum seekers or care experienced. Contact our Finance Team for an application form.

For students paying their own fees, (e.g., RUK, Overseas, or Home (Scottish) students not eligible for free tuition or SAAS funding), here are the payment options:

- Pay in full at enrolment or contact our Finance Team to discuss payment plans.
Note: All payments must be received before your course ends.
If you’re considering withdrawing from your course, review the withdrawal and refund policy.
Policy
- Withdraw within 3 weeks: Consideration will be given to refunding fees minus a £40 administration fee.
- After 3 weeks: Full fees charged for that block.
- Discuss options with Finance staff before withdrawing. Contact our Finance Team for advice.
If you’re struggling to pay your fees, please contact our Finance Team immediately to explore support options and avoid penalties.
Consequences of Non-Payment
- £30 administration fee for cancelled Direct Debit payments.
- Withholding of certification until fees are paid.
- Referral to the College’s Debt Collection Agency.
- Possible removal from your course.
- Withdraw access to ICT Facilities.
