Discover the beauty of Scotland’s oldest living language and be part of its modern revival.

Have you always been intrigued by Scottish Gaelic? Would you like to learn to speak and understand this unique part of Scotland’s cultural identity while connecting with the growing Gaelic community across the country?

This friendly, beginner-level Gaelic course introduces you to the language through enjoyable, practical learning. You’ll develop your speaking and listening skills, learn simple grammar and vocabulary, and explore Gaelic culture, heritage, and modern use in media, community, and education.

The course is delivered in person at our Springburn Campus with one evening session per week (6pm–9pm).

Learning is supported by a range of videos, online materials, and interactive resources that you can access remotely to keep practising at home.

This course is perfect for:

  • Gaelic speakers who wish to refresh or improve their spoken skills.
  • Anyone interested in Scotland’s culture, identity, and heritage.

Entry requirements

✅ No formal qualifications are required

Everyone is welcome — whether you’re completely new to Gaelic or returning to it after some time away.

ℹ️ Applicants must be 16 years or older at the start of the course.

ℹ️ For this course, if English is not your first language

  • If you do not have a formal ESOL qualification but your language skills meet this level, you should apply for your course and then contact our Admissions team to organise an internal language assessment  here at the College.
