Video Transcript – Kara Former Dance Student

My name's Kara. I am a former advanced student of Glasgow Kelvin College. I did the HND in professional dance performance and I'm here today taking a jazz workshop with the dancers.

I graduated from Glasgow Kelvin about nine years ago now. Since then I've worked as a professional dancer in London and LA, Vegas.

Most recently I've been working as a choreographer for postmodern jukebox and I've been in Nashville and Romania.

I do have my own dance school, Daffodill Dance Academy, which is in Dunfermline.

The course that I did here set me up perfectly for all of that. It covered a range of different dance styles, which meant I was really well versed in everything that was needed of me when I went to auditions and it's also meant now that I can teach a good range of styles.

In the NQ Dance with Fitness at Glasgow Kelvin, they've got one of my old dancers that I said that should come here because the course was so amazing and they've also got one of my instructors who wanted to get a better range of styles under our belt.

Video Transcript – Carys: BA Theatre Industry Practice

Hi, I'm Carys. I'm a student on the BA Theatre and Industry Practice course here at Glasgow Kelvin in collaboration with the University of the Highlands and Islands.

What we do here is a bit of everything. We all get to pick our own specialisms. Mine is facilitation, but in the class we have a mix of lots of different people. We have some choreographers, we have some vocal coaches, directors and stage managers.

What we're currently working on is our group project. We're going to be putting on a little cabaret and we're all working together using our specialism so we've recently been doing some singing where our vocal coach is teaching us some harmonies and stuff and it's been great fun.

We all want to have our own theatre schools and some of us want to do secondary teaching. What we've done is we've put together a wee welcome pack and we're going to go out into schools, high schools and nurseries.

For the primary schools we're doing a little hour workshop where we're going to read them a story, we're going to do some dancing and singing and we're going to spread kindness. We're going to give them a wee post-it notes and we're going to do some positive I am mantras with them.

Video Transcript – Lila: HNC Acting & Performance

My name is Lila Gilmore. I'm from the HNC acting course.

We have a play called The Maladies coming up on the 25th and 26th of February and tickets are on sale now.

My character is Leone. She's very confident in herself and she is trying to find a way of solving the plague because her friends have all got it and she's the only one that survives.

There's a lot of flashbacks and modern day and we show the contrast, like the style, language and our acting and our costume.

The podcast scene is where the podcasters try and discuss a way of stopping the plague because it's still happening in the modern day.

Our rehearsals have been great fun. We have to go back over everything and everything and everything. If we mess up, it's great fun.
