HNC Sports Coaching & Development Students Boost Skills with Scottish Volleyball CPD

Students taking part in a volleyball training session in the college sports hall during a Scottish Volleyball CPD event.

Our HNC Sports Coaching and Development students recently took part in a practical Volleyball CPD workshop delivered by Scottish Volleyball. This hands‑on session gave learners the chance to build technical skills, explore game principles, and experience what effective volleyball coaching looks like in real practice.

Students worked closely with Scottish Volleyball tutors, taking turns leading activities, learning new progressions, and exploring how to introduce volleyball safely and confidently within schools, clubs, and community sport settings.

Why This Matters for Our Students

Taking part in this CPD offered real benefits, including:

  • Growing Coaching Confidence - Students had the chance to deliver coaching activities in a supported environment, helping them feel more prepared for placements and future coaching roles.
  • Developing New Technical Knowledge - Learners gained a deeper understanding of volleyball skills, tactics, and session structure—tools they can now bring into their wider coaching practice.
  • Learning Directly From Industry Experts - With guidance from Scottish Volleyball, students were able to engage with national‑standard coaching approaches and gain insight into pathways within Scottish sport.
  • Strengthening Employability - This CPD adds directly to each student’s professional portfolio, supporting future applications in active schools, community coaching, sports development, or further study.
  • Building Teamwork & Communication - The interactive format encouraged students to collaborate, lead, and adapt—key skills for anyone working in sport.

A huge thank you to Scottish Volleyball for supporting our learners with such a valuable and engaging experience. Opportunities like this help strengthen the Active Campus programme, giving students the confidence, skills, and real‑world practice they need to thrive in the sports sector.
