Our Sport students have taken an exciting step forward this semester by completing the Pickleball Scotland Ambassador Course, adding a fast‑growing and accessible sport to their coaching toolkit.
Pickleball—one of the UK’s fastest‑expanding sports—combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Its inclusive nature makes it ideal for Active Campus delivery, community programmes, and student‑led activity. By taking part in the Ambassador training, our students have gained the skills, knowledge, and confidence to introduce the game to new players across the college and wider community.
Throughout the course, students learned:
- The fundamentals of pickleball rules and gameplay
- Coaching principles tailored for beginners
- How to organise inclusive sessions
- Ways to promote the sport within education and community settings
With this new qualification, students will now support Active Campus sessions and help grow pickleball participation across our college community. Their involvement aligns perfectly with our goal of offering a wider range of engaging, fun, and accessible physical activity opportunities for all students.
A huge well done to everyone who completed the course—your enthusiasm and leadership continue to strengthen the Active Campus programme at Kelvin College.
