Find out what has been happening by reading on.
I Sing (The Musical)
Glasgow Kelvin's hugely talented HND Musical Theatre students had their opening of the stage show, 'I Sing', in the Auditorium of Platform at The Bridge, Easterhouse on Wednesday evening, playing to an enraptured and enthusiastic audience. Here's a little write-up from one delighted member of staff. The show ran from the 14th to the 16th of May 2019.
"Well, what can I say about 'I Sing' the HND Musical Theatre students amazing show? It was fantastic! Our fabulous Glasgow Kelvin College students excelled themselves yet again, making this their best show yet. The show exploded on to stage with the song “I Sing”, with the five main characters each telling their own story of their lives. It is fun from beginning to end and you will see just how talented our students are. Each actor grips you from the minute they come on stage. The show was energetic, quite raunchy and the actors had you laughing and screaming in your seat. However, there are some moving scenes where I had a wee tear in my eye.
You will hardly pause for breath until the final song. Well done to our amazing talented students, their hard working lecturers who supported them and stagehands.
You smashed it!!!"
Vicious @ Deaf Connections, Theatre
Our own Jeanette Hill's play 'Vicious' had a sell out 4 nights at Deaf Connections at the end of March, and she is hoping to tour soon.
Check out the review by The Skinny below:-
"Vicious is a heartfelt discussion of the affects of pension and benefit cuts in the UK and the daily struggle of women to simply survive In times of austerity, it's women who suffer the most – and this, as Jeanette Hill remarks with her new play, is Vicious."
Engie Representative Passes on Knowledge
Carpentry and joinery students had an employer talk from Colin Bain, Contract Manager for ENGIE on Tuesday the 14th of May.
Colin spoke about his own career path journey and discussed the various site operations that ENGIE are currently involved in.
He also held a question and answer session with the students regarding site work placements and other job opportunities.
The students gained valuable knowledge and found it very worthwhile. We are hoping that there will be a few students out on work placements very soon!
