This one-year, full-time NQ Computing (Level 6) course builds on your existing digital knowledge and prepares you for progression into higher-level study or employment within the technology sector.
You’ll explore key areas such as Networking, Cyber Security, Software Development, and Hardware Installation, all while gaining valuable hands-on experience through the CISCO Networking Academy.
The course also includes the CISCO IT Essentials vendor qualification — giving you industry-recognised certification alongside your NQ award.
This course is ideal for:
- Learners who have completed NQ Level 5 or equivalent computing study
- School leavers and adult returners keen to pursue a career in IT or cybersecurity
- Those preparing to move on to HNC/HND Computing or degree-level study

What you will learn

Entry requirements
✅ Successful completion of NQ Computing Level 5 or equivalent
✅ Demonstrated interest and aptitude in computing or digital technology
✅ Attendance at a short aptitude event to confirm the right level of entry
ℹ️ You must be 16 years or older at the start of the course.
ℹ️ For this course, if English is not your first language
- you need to have SQA ESOL Higher (or equivalent, click here to see equivalent qualifications)
- If you do not have a formal ESOL qualification but your language skills meet this level, you should apply for your course and then contact our Admissions team to organise an internal language assessment here at the College.
