City & Guilds/Men’s Hairdressing Federation (MHFed) - Hair & Beauty U.K Barber of the Year Winner, Edson McCall, and the Highly Commended award student, Sarah McGarvey, travelled to London this week to claim their prestigious prize. A full day playing a major role in the styling, make-up and setting of a real-live professional photo-shoot with celebrity style guru, Des Murray.
Accompanied by lecturer and chaperone, Tracy Leavy, the students and models were welcomed at Adam Sloan’s Son’s salon 'Eighty8 LoveToCreate' in Essex for their photoshoot.
Based in Rayleigh, ‘Eight8 LoveToCreate’ is a modern, contemporary barbers. They have teamed up with artist and designer “Art by H” to form a unique blend between Barber shop and Art gallery.
The day started with an early, 7.15 am flight to London and then on to the salon where the students worked hard prepping the models. After prep work they all went round to Adam’s MHFed studio where the highlight of the day took place; the photoshoot by Des Murray. The model’s make up was carried out by by Jude Bale. After the shoot everyone was interviewed to record their experience of the day.

“We had a fantastic day filled with hard work, lots of learning and great fun!! The students were incredible - they grabbed the day, mingled and were so courteous and grateful to everyone that was helping them.
“Our thanks go to the MHfed team and Adam Sloan for organising everything, Emma and Diane for keeping everyone in check and to Desmond Murray working the camera, it was an incredible shoot of our models....cant wait to see what comes next .... worth every minute”
