Fabulous students from across Glasgow Kelvin College have banded together to support a new local business in the community.
Business Lecturer, Lis Adams who has her own photography company – Lis Adams Photography - had been approached by new local businesswoman, Les Graham, to help launch her new business. ‘Les Loves Quirky’ is a unique new vintage clothing outlet in Glasgow’s developing Barras East End Studios which is set to attract Glasgow’s most on-trend citizens.
Lis marshalled her HN Business students who were excited to model the outfits for a photo-shoot and came up with the idea to involve students from the Hairdressing and Beauty courses, treating the launch as a professional shoot and providing an impressive work experience opportunity for everyone involved.
The Hairdressing and Beauty departments were delighted to bring their skills and talents to create a sensational event which drew an impressed little crowd at the on-location shoot in Bain Street.
Entrepreneur Les was delighted with the finished photos and the commitment of all the students involved. She said;
"The ethos of ‘Les Loves Quirky’ is to prove that every woman regardless of age can wear similar clothes – it’s all about styling. One quote from a recent shopper was ‘It’s like entering a magical wardrobe.’
The day spent with some of the students from Glasgow Kelvin College was invigorating. Their enthusiasm and willingness to participate was a joy.”
Business Lecturer, Lis Adams, was justifiably proud of her students’ performance. She said;
“I am so impressed by the students’ talent and professionalism on this project.”
A few of the comments from the fabulous students involved were:
“It was a really fun day, but we worked hard and made it into a good, reflective experience too.”
“A great team-building experience, especially working with the Hair and Make-up students.”
“There’s a big demand for vintage clothing and Les’ unique taste and talents offer style for all ages, for all occasions. Even though ‘Les Loves Quirky’ is on social media too, the outlet at The Barras is like an Aladdin’s cave of gorgeous stuff!”
Students from across the College were fabulous on the day and every one of them, as well as the marvellous staff who were involved, deserve to be congratulated for supporting a new business in the local community.
