Course overview

This course is only available to school students.  Please do not apply if you do not meet this requirement.

This course is offered to pupils with a genuine ambition to work in the construction industry.  Current skill level is less important, it is the willingness to take part and learn new things that we are looking for from students.

What you will learn

This course is of a highly practical nature, spent in a variety of trade workshops including Carpentry & Joinery, Roof Slating & Tiling, and Brickwork. 

It is anticipated that learners will also participate in project work in partnership with a leading industry employer. 

Entry requirements

Students who have the desire to progress into a career in the construction industry. Ideally, the student will enjoy learning in a more practical environment.

Days Per Week Tuesdays and Thursdays - 1.30 pm to 4 pm

Career Opportunities

Successful completion can lead to our level 5 courses at the college, as well as allow the students to focus on a sector they enjoy most to progress into their chosen field such as bricklaying, joinery, roof slating and tiling, and painting

Future prospects

Successful completion at the end of the session will guarantee pupils a place within the next year’s NQ Level 5 Pre-apprenticeship programme. 

Alternatively, pupils will be well prepared to apply for apprenticeships in their chosen trade area.
