Learn practical, creative, and life skills in a friendly and supportive college environment.
This one-year full-time course helps you develop skills for learning, life, and work through a mix of classroom, creative, and outdoor activities. You’ll take part in lessons that build your confidence, teamwork, and independence.
Subjects include Creative Arts, Health and Wellbeing, ICT Skills, Eco Awareness, Drama, Numeracy, Communication, and Practical Abilities. You’ll also enjoy outdoor education and local field trips, which make learning active and fun.
This course is a great next step if you are working at SCQF Level 2, helping you move toward more independence and future learning.
This course is for learners who:

- Are working at SCQF Level 2 or 3.
- Want to keep learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Enjoy practical activities, teamwork, and outdoor learning.
- Would like to develop life, social, and employability skills.
What you will learn
You’ll take part in fun, practical lessons to help you gain skills for everyday life and work, including:
- Creative Arts – working with different materials and projects.
- Performance and Media – creating short films or group projects.
- Eco Awareness – learning about the environment and sustainability.
- Communication and IT Skills – using computers and improving confidence when speaking and writing.
- Numeracy – practising everyday maths for real-life use.
- Health and Wellbeing – learning how to stay healthy, active, and confident.
Outdoor learning, teamwork, and local trips are an important part of your studies, helping you learn in different ways.
Entry requirements
✅ Have a learning disability.
✅ School link experience at Glasgow Kelvin College (if applicable).
✅ Qualifications at NQ Level 2 or 3, or similar experience.
✅ A keen interest in learning at college and taking part in practical activities.
