This area will consist of around 24 fruit trees including apple, plum and pear trees. We are wanting to make this exciting event open to everyone, to help with planting.
The Orchard Project will supply the tools needed to plant but we need as many people as we can get to help out.
Please come along on Orchard Planting Day - 12th March, from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, at our Springburn campus - and help get this project up and growing.
E-bikes Induction Session at Springburn Campus
The College has recently purchased 3 new electric bikes with the aim of encouraging Staff to travel by bicycle between campuses.
On Monday 25th February, Staff had the opportunity to learn more about the e-bikes at Springburn campus. Many thanks go to Scott Davidson, owner of ‘Love e- bikes’ (specialised shop in e-bikes located in Glasgow), for showing us how easy it is to ride an e-bike!
Big thanks also go to everyone who joined in during the session - we hope you had fun!
We want to arrange more sessions on the other campuses, so that all Staff interested have the opportunity to trial the e-Bikes.
Please do get in touch with Sandra, our Campus Cycling Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org and/ or Taso (Project and Sustainability Officer), email@example.com, to discuss and organise a session at your campus.
Cycling Presentation – Social Care Students
Thanks to a pedagogical approach, she managed to deliver an interactive presentation, allowing the students to learn more about cycling. She highlighted the various initiatives that the College has been running to encourage students and staff to cycle to the College.
Both staff and students have the opportunity to access cycle training sessions, regardless of their cycling skills.
It was great to see students being so enthusiastic about cycling and to have more people signing-up for the cycle training sessions.
Following the presentation, the students had the chance to see the GK Velocity Cycle Hub and to ask further questions about it.
A huge thank you to Karen Campbell for taking the initiative to organise this!
The experience was very positive and Karen and Sandra have already planned to deliver another cycling presentation at Easterhouse campus in March.
