Sweet Downfall Single Release
Following a triumphant debut gig at the 2018 Celtic Connections Festival, Nicol & Elliott came to the attention of Electric Honey records, the student run label at Glasgow Kelvin College. Their debut single ‘Wish You’d Stayed Away’ was warmly received with plays on BBC Radio Nan Gàidheal, Cam-Glen, Sunny Govan and Jim Gellatly’s Amazing Radio Show. Jim also chose ‘Wish You’d Stayed Away’ as the track of the day, following its release in March 2019.
The follow up single, ‘Sweet Downfall’, will be released digitally on the 25th October to coincide with the duo’s performance at the Glasgow Roots Revue Festival on Sunday 27th at Saint Luke’s.
Inspired by an autumnal Glasgow, Sweet Downfall offers a certain dramatic and nostalgic romance, whilst recognising the inevitable conflict of emotions that surround loss and how mood can be reflected in the weather.
"...their unique blend of fiddle, acoustic guitar and perfect harmonies, their set is well received by the packed audience. A fine performance from Nicol and Elliott...and on this showing have a strong future ahead." - Rave Child
